The result is a finished window that complements the room rather than simply covering the glass.

Custom Draperies for Clayton, MO

Custom draperies can dramatically change the appearance and atmosphere of a room. The right fabric, color, pattern, fullness, length, and hardware can make windows feel larger, ceilings appear taller, and an entire room feel more complete.

Charlotte’s works with Clayton homeowners to create custom draperies that coordinate with the surrounding furnishings, wall colors, flooring, artwork, and architectural details.

Depending upon the room and your design goals, custom draperies can provide:

• A polished, finished appearance

• Greater privacy

• Improved light control

• Softness and warmth

• Enhanced visual height

• Better coordination with existing décor

• An opportunity to introduce color, texture, or pattern

From understated elegance to dramatic statement windows, each treatment can be customized to achieve the look you want.

Custom Shades, Blinds, & Shutters

Beautiful window treatments should also work for the way you live.

Charlotte’s offers custom shades, blinds, and shutters that can provide privacy and light control while complementing the overall design of your Clayton home.

Custom Shades

Choose from Roman shades, roller shades, solar shades, woven shades, and other styles to achieve the right balance of softness, privacy, light filtration, and design.

Custom Blinds

Custom blinds provide excellent control over natural light and privacy while offering a clean, versatile appearance that works with many decorating styles.

Shutters

Interior shutters offer distinctive architectural character along with excellent privacy and light control. Their timeless appearance makes them an attractive choice for rooms where the window treatment itself becomes part of the architecture.

These treatments can also be paired with custom draperies, cornices, or valances to create a more layered and finished design.

Valances, Cornices & Decorative Details

Sometimes it is the finishing details that transform a beautiful room into an exceptional one.

Charlotte’s can incorporate custom valances, upholstered cornices, decorative trims, banding, and other embellishments into your window treatment design.

A custom cornice or valance can help conceal functional hardware while adding shape, color, pattern, or architectural interest above the window.

These elements are especially effective when coordinating multiple windows or when you want the window treatment to become an important part of the room's overall design.

Decorative Hardware That Completes the Design

Decorative hardware should never feel like an afterthought.

The right rods, rings, brackets, finials, and related hardware can provide the finishing touch that brings an entire custom drapery installation together.

Charlotte’s helps Clayton homeowners select decorative hardware that complements both the fabric and the room. Depending on your design, hardware can remain understated or become a prominent decorative feature.

From classic to contemporary, every detail can be coordinated to create a cohesive finished appearance.

Motorized Window Treatments for Modern Living

Convenience and sophisticated design can work together.

Motorized window treatments allow homeowners to raise, lower, open, or close compatible shades and window coverings with greater ease. Motorization can be especially helpful for large windows, hard-to-reach windows, rooms with multiple treatments, or homeowners who simply appreciate added convenience.

Motorized solutions can also help create a clean, streamlined appearance while making everyday control of privacy and natural light easier.

Charlotte’s can help determine whether motorized window treatments are appropriate for your Clayton home and incorporate them into the overall design.

Layering Window Treatments for Beauty, Privacy & Light Control

Some of the most beautiful windows use more than one type of treatment.

For example, a shade may provide everyday privacy and light control while custom draperies add softness, color, texture, and visual impact. Decorative hardware or a cornice can then complete the composition.

Layering allows us to address several design and functional goals at the same time.

Your custom window design might combine:

Roman shades + drapery panels
A sophisticated combination offering both function and softness.

Woven shades + custom draperies
Natural texture combined with fabric for a warm, layered appearance.

Blinds + decorative panels
Practical light control enhanced by custom fabric treatments.

Sheers + draperies
Flexible light filtration and privacy with an elegant layered effect.

Charlotte’s can help you determine which combination best complements your room and the way you use it.

Designed for Your Home—not a Showroom Display

Choosing window treatments from photographs or small samples alone can be difficult. Colors, patterns, textures, and proportions can look very different once they are placed within an actual room.

Our personalized design process considers the complete environment surrounding your windows.

We look at factors such as:

• Existing furniture

• Wall colors

• Flooring

• Natural and artificial lighting

• Window proportions

• Ceiling height

• Architectural details

• Privacy requirements

• Desired light control

• Existing décor

• Your personal style

This allows the window treatment to become an integrated part of the room rather than an isolated decorating decision.

The Charlotte's Custom Design Process

Creating beautiful custom window treatments should be an enjoyable experience. Our process is designed to help you move from ideas to a finished design with confidence.

1. Design Consultation

We begin by discussing your windows, rooms, decorating preferences, functional needs, and the look you would like to achieve.

2. Explore Your Options

We help you consider fabrics, colors, patterns, textures, window treatment styles, decorative hardware, and other design possibilities.

3. Develop the Design

Selections are coordinated to create a window treatment that complements the room while addressing privacy, light control, and other practical considerations.

4. Custom Fabrication

When fabrication is required, our in-house workroom gives Charlotte’s greater involvement in the craftsmanship and quality of your custom treatments.

5. The Finished Room

The final window treatment brings together fabric, function, proportion, and finishing details to create a polished design made specifically for your home.

More Than 25 Years of Window Treatment Experience

Custom window treatments require more than choosing a beautiful fabric.

Proportion, scale, fabrication, placement, hardware, light, privacy, and the relationship between the window treatment and the surrounding room all influence the finished result.

Her background in fashion design and extensive experience with both residential and commercial projects provide a design-focused approach to each project.
